‍ Thank you for another wonderful and robust meeting. As a reminder, the next SNOAC meeting will be Thursday, April 16th from 10am-12pm. As with previous meetings, this meeting will be hybrid and you can attend in-person at Roseman University (3755 Breakthrough Way, Classroom 200, Las Vegas, NV 89135) or virtually via Zoom.   • Last Call for 2026 SNSMOPS Planning Committee

    • About: The call for the 2026 Summit Planning Committee is upon us once again! The planning committee is a critical part of the success of the summit every year. They are the beating heart of the summit and up to 15 people are welcome to join this special opportunity.

    • What to expect: Planning committee members are expected to attend 1 hour planning meetings once a month every month leading up to the summit starting in approx. January or February and then 2 planning committee meetings in the month of July. There will be occasional work in-between meetings to approve or suggest critical parts of the summit like theme and title.

Educational Opportunities

  • Overdose Response Training of Trainers

    • Date: Thursday, March 5th from 8a-11a

    • Location: Southern Nevada Health District (280 S. Decatur Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89107)

    • Cost: Free

    • About: This class is open to trainers who wish to become educated with current information about the illicit drug supply and the current best practices for reversing overdoses. At the end of this training, you will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to train others in overdose response, understand opioids and their effects, and educate others on common myths regarding drug overdose and fentanyl. Prerequisite work is required and will be sent by email. This no-cost training is completely grant funded.

  • Emerging Drug Trends in the Pacific Southwest Part 2: Emerging Trends and Novel Substances Impacting the Opioid Epidemic

    • Date: Thursday, March 12th from 3pm-4pm

    • Location: Virtual

    • Cost: Free

    • About: The substance use landscape is ever-changing. New challenges emerge even as we celebrate milestones and successes. Identifying and responding to these challenges is key to ensuring our services remain timely and relevant. This webinar is the second of a four-part series on emerging drug trends in the Pacific Southwest region. It will focus on the ongoing opioid epidemic and the emerging novel substances altering its course. The webinar will review the recent history of the epidemic and explain the research and data on novel opioid and opioid-adjacent substances. These substances include fluorofentanyl, nitazenes, xylazine, medetomidine, tianeptine, and kratom. The webinar will also explore opportunities for prevention to address these novel substances.

  • Wound Care for People Who Use Drugs Educational Workshop

    • Date: Tuesday, March 24th from 1p to 2:30p

    • Location: Southern Nevada Health District (280 S. Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89107)

    • Cost: Free

    • About: In this workshop, participants will learn best practices for wound care, including self-treatment and when to seek medical help. They will identify common wounds among drug users and develop safety plans to help clients minimize the risk of wounds.

  • Chem Sex, Sex work and Substance Use Educational Workshop

    • Date: Tuesday, April 21st from 10:30a-12pm

    • Location: Southern Nevada Health District (280 S. Decatur Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89107)

    • Cost: Free

    • About: This workshop encourages open, stigma-free discussions about the intersections of sex, pleasure, and substance use. Participants will explore topics like consent, sexualized drug use, safer sex practices, and legal issues affecting sex work. They will gain practical tools to reduce risk, support autonomy, and enhance safety for individuals involved in substance use or sex work.
