Good afternoon SNOAC Community,
Thank you so much for another robust meeting! As a reminder, the next SNOAC meeting will be Thursday, November 6th from 10a-12p. As with previous meetings, this meeting will be hybrid and you can attend in-person at Roseman University (1 Breakthrough Way Las Vegas, NV 89135) or virtually via Zoom. Attorney General Aaron Ford Announces Solicitation of Interested Persons for Appointment to Substance Use Advisory Bodies
About: Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford announced that he will appoint six members across two important advisory bodies: the Substance Use Response Group (SURG) and the Advisory Committee on Resiliency and Nevada (ACRN). Members serve volunteer terms and are not compensated for their time.
The following members will be appointed to the SURG:
One member who works in emergency response services; and
One member of the general public.
The following members will be appointed to the ACRN:
One member who possesses knowledge, skills, and experience working with youth in the juvenile justice system;
One member who possesses knowledge, skills, and experience working with persons in the criminal justice system;
One member who possesses knowledge, skills, and experience in the surveillance of overdoses; and
One member who resides in a county other than Clark or Washoe County and has experience having a substance use disorder or having a family member who has a substance use disorder.
Those interested in serving should email Terry Kerns, Substance Abuse/Law Enforcement Coordinator at TKerns@ag.nv.gov with their name, contact information, and the position they wish to be considered for by 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025.

About: Substance use and overdose prevention is a syndemic issue that requires us to work across inter-related fields, including psychological health, trauma, disability, suicide, and violence. To effectively serve our community and clients, collaboration across programs, services, and funding sources is crucial, and a multidisciplinary approach is essential to address core issues and provide comprehensive, holistic services for individuals' needs. You are invited to join us for the 2025 Southern Nevada Substance Misuse and Overdose Prevention Summit, Harmonization: A block party on the corner of healing and collaboration, where everyone has a seat at the table. International Overdose Awareness Day

Save a Life Day
Date: Friday, September 26th all day

About: On Sep 26th, 2025, communities across the country to are powering up to host the largest day of naloxone distribution to date. Join agencies here in Southern Nevada in distributing naloxone to members of our community to end overdose deaths.

2025 Mobilize Recovery: Campus Surge

About: Mobilize Recovery is bringing the Campus Surge 2025 initiative to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as part of a nationwide effort to address the challenges of substance use and mental health among college students. This event that will be held in the Student Union (Ballroom A), aims to raise awareness, provide resources, and empower students to become advocates for recovery within their communities. There will be special guests, panel discussions, free food, and more!

Narcan at Night

There is No Hero in Heroin Updates
Update 1: TINHIH now accepts uninsured and undocumented individuals- both adults and adolescents for services. Everyone deserves access to compassionate, confidential care- regardless of insurance or immigration status.
Update 2: Substance Use Disorder Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) now available! TINHIH is proud to announce their Adolescent IOP program launched on May 5th of 2025. It is a short-term treatment program designed for adolescents ages 12-17 years old who may be struggling in their day-to-day lives due to substance use. Groups are led by their compassionate and experienced counselors.

About: This training will address integrated, core issues related to nutrition and health that impact recovery outcomes for individuals with substance use disorders. Overdose Response with Naloxone Training of Trainers

About: THIS EVENT IS PRIVATE AND OFFERED BY INVITATION ONLY - This class is open to trainers who wish to become educated with current information about the illicit drug supply in our community and the current best practices for reversing overdoses. At the end of this training, you should be equipped with the knowledge and tools to train others in overdose response with naloxone, understand opioids and their effects, and educate others on common myths regarding drug overdose and fentanyl. Prerequisite work is required and will be sent by email.

This full day will be jam packed and interactive for participants. Lunch will not be provided and will be on your own.
